Good day. Do you know the number one reason website projects, at least in my experience, get delayed? It's writing copy. It's putting, creating the words that are going to go on your website. I've had projects get delayed up to a year and beyond because the client wanted to write the copy themself and they just had that struggle staring at the blank page and they couldn't get the ball rolling. Don't let that happen to you. Today, I'm going to share with you the cheat code that makes it simple. Today we're going to focus on the about page, the heartbeat of your website.
Hi, welcome to the G Squared Studio YouTube channel. I'm Garik Goodell and yeah, I said it. The about page is the heartbeat of your website. Statistically it is the number two most viewed page on most business websites. It makes sense. Who doesn't want to find out who they're going to give their money to before they give them their money? It's where a potential client is going to go to get to know your business as well as you. Who wants to do business with a faceless corporation anymore? Nobody. So I'm going to help you make sure your about page shares your business's story as well as helps people get to know, like, and trust you. Okay, confession time. So I like many of us out there didn't have an about page on my website for a long time. It was a struggle for me to write my about page.
Staring at a blank page is just hard to start the creativity process from and I applied what I'm going to teach you today to my website. Though my about page, I'm going to be honest, still needs a lot of work. There's a lot of elements I need to add to it, but it is so much better to have it up and have something out there than nothing. Nothing is no good, but you don't have to have nothing. It is not as hard as it used to be because today we can employ chat, GPT. Lemme start off by saying chat. GPT is a great resource to help get your creative juices flowing. It is not the end all be all. You should not just copy and paste whatever it pumps out like a sleep deprived student on the night before finals. Make sure you take it and refine it and make it your own.
Add some pizzaz, make sure you add some of you to it and don't forget to let your audience peek behind the curtain to really get to know you and who your business is. So what I did to make this process easy for me and I'm sharing with you today, is I made a PDF that has a bunch of questions on it that any business owner should be able to answer a majority of. And then by answering those questions and then using the prompt that is also in this PDF chat, GPT will create for you really nice starting place for you to create your content. So let's take a look at it. Okay, so here is the PDF that I created and it's really basic. It's just questions. Here are the questions. I mean some of the examples. What is the name of your business? Hopefully you got that.
What sets your business apart from your competitors? What is the story behind your business's name and logo? What is the mission or overarching goal of your business? By answering a majority of these questions, it will greatly help chat GPT, get to know your business. So when it now is creating content for your business, it's in proper alignment. Once you answer a majority of these questions, go open chat, GPT browser. Mine might look a little different than yours because I have other things going on it, but all you do is right here, put in the prompt that I also have in that document. So let's look at the prompt. This is what you put into chat, GBT, copy and paste this, but please replace a couple of the sections. So please take the following questions and answers and create. So this is how long you want this to be.
One, two paragraphs, three paragraphs, bullet points, however you want to provide the information for the about page of my business's website. This should be a, now this is your opportunity to say the tone. You would like it to be fun, playful, serious, dynamic, engaging are all great examples that appeals to now briefly describe your clients and what their pain point is so it knows those elements and you can utilize that while writing this copy. So let's just do an example real quick. Okay, so I have it right here for me. I have my answers and questions, right? Sha, copy this, paste it into chat, GPT,
Boom,
Here it goes. Puts out my two paragraphs as I requested it. Now I copy this, paste it back in my favorite word processing document and edit it and improve it and then change it and then change it and change it and indulge upon what's in there. Pick and pull things out. You can even do this a couple times and grab certain pieces from certain sections. I really suggest you don't just take this and paste it on your site, make it your own, infuse your voice into it. So I hope you got value from this. I know it helped me out tremendously. I hope it'll help you out tremendously if you don't have your about page up on your website, today is the day to get started on that. I also, if you found this helpful and useful, am in the process of creating a course that's going to guide small business owners on how to create every single piece of content they need for the website, from logo, color palette, imagery, and the copy. If you're interested in that, there's a link down in the description to sign up to be notified about updates about it. I hope you got value from this. If you know anyone else who might get value, please share it. Do that like and subscribe thing. It helps me out tremendously and I hope you have a great day and great success.
